Asia 2016 - Day 6 - Millenium Seoul

To start the day we had a Gangnam Paris-style breakfast. Though I must admit I have never seen such a style of in France, it sure tasted delicious.

Paris baguette

Paris baguette is a chain of bakeries that embodies the Korean impression of French pastries.

in order to get a better feeling for the real Korean traditions we made our way to the Namsangol Hanok Village. Not even the size of a real village, rather a park containing a number of rebuild and relocated historic buildings that represent the living areas along with its furniture of their time. It is in stark contrast to the surrounding area which consists of concrete cube-shaped buildings with air conditioner hanging at each window. It is an area of reflection and almost forgotten history in this super-modern city.

in the back of the park a time capsule was buried as part of the 600th birthday of city of Seoul. It is to be opened at the 1000th birthday. I'll guess I have to come back then ;)

As we left late again, noon was on the horizon when we left the park and made our way to another restaurant. This time we wanted to try an Army-style hotpot that came with a new twist; 100% Mozarella cheese. At least that's what the menu advertised.

As the red color suggests it was a hot and spicy as it looks. We ordered noodles to go with it but in the midst of lunch we asked not only for a bowl of rice to calm our mouths but also another bottle of the ice-cold water.

With out bellies full we walked lazily around the area before we visited the Ehwa Woman's University, again by foot as we wanted to save some cash and experience the city.

I must say that campus looks truly inspiring and I wish my university had been located in such a spectacular mixture of old and new.

Before I could sign up for university again we rode a taxi, this time without any problems to the Nanta Theater for the longest runnning ilve Performance show in Korea fo the same name. It was unfortunately not allowed to take pictures but here is a photo of the cast that entertained us so well. I only wished we would have been sitting in the front rows as there were several audience participations.

That's it for now. Its already past midnight here, at least that's what I think since my devices are all a little confused about the timezones and summertime. See you next time.
