Tenerife - Day 1 - Arrival
The weekend passed in blur and I still cannot imagine that I am in Tenerife, much less that I was sitting on the plane after onnly 4 hours of sleep.
in hindsight it was the right decision to take an early flight so we could take advantage of that first day.
The landing however would have come as shock if I had not been warned by a colleague who had been there multiple times. not only do you land in the middle of the Altantic Ocean but the South really looks like a backdrop of a barren moon in a Space Opera.
Thanks to the shuttle service we swiftly made it to the Hotel and got our room with partial sea-side view.

After settling in we went to the beach promenade to find something edible as the plane breakfast-memory started to fade away. Luckily we found a decent Tapas shop and it was still early so not too many hungry mouths running about.

I don't know if it was good instinct or pure luck that we ignored Ghandi that day ;)

Despite having a meeting with the local agent working for our tour operator we decided to go with the local concierge at our hotel, a British lady that lived here for 10 years and seemed tremendously competent in addition to offer us English-spoken tours instead of French-ones.
In the afternoon we were basically just lying around the pool and cooling down in the water when it got too hot.
That way we made it to dinner which was thanks to our half-board a dinner affair.

Unfortunately we also ran into a small issue when we tried entering the dinner hall. That is I was wearing my shorts, proper not the colorful Bermuda-type that I was wearing on the pool. However man are expected to wear long sleeves and trousers for dinner. I am nothing but respectful of other cultures but rather baffled and went right away to change my pants. The good man guarding the dinner hall had no objections to my flip-flops that I had acquired int he afternoon.

Once inside I discovered that while men honored the set dresscode, the female sex was exempt of this rule and consequently some wore clothes that provided enough air flow to their armpits and around their legs as to be able to naturally aspirate a V12 engine.

Fully sated we ascended back to our room and not before long I rested my eyes for a short while and only woke up 12 hours later at 9 AM.
